Competitive Advantages of Code Bar Code Readers
Dual Field Optics: The CR2, CR2500, CR3, CR3500 and CR8000 are each equipped with a patented dual-lens design that expands the reading range of the imager by providing two unique fields of view in one device. The CR2500, CR3500 and CR8000 split the imager into a high-density field and a wide angle field. This gives the user a device that can read both very wide bar codes and very small bar codes in a single unit. The CR2 and CR3 are equipped with a near field and far field for applications that require a longer depth of field. See more »

Glare Reduction: Items with shiny, curved or warped surfaces can reflect ambient light into the camera and reduce read-rate. Code readers are the only 2D Area Imagers in the industry equipped with patented glare and reflection reducing technology that significantly increases read rates in these environments. See more »

Vibrating Motor on Good Reads: Code bar code readers are equipped with a vibrating motor for noisy environments where the typical beep tone is not loud enough, or quiet hospital environments where sleeping patients can remain undisturbed during bedside scanning of wristbands.

Bluetooth®: Code was the first company to introduce an Area Imager with Bluetooth® wireless technology over 5 years ago. Code has been a leader in Bluetooth and has multiple OEMs that use its CodeXML® Bluetooth® Modems and CodeXML® Router Software worldwide.

Modular Design:
  • Removable Handles: Attach a handle to a Code bar code reader for typical hand-held scanner operation, or the handle can be removed to fit the bar code reader in the palm of a hand like a candy-bar, reducing fatigue and providing easier access to the buttons on the top surface of the bar code reader
  • Field Serviceable: Quick-disconnect cables and other easy-to-replace accessories make repairs a snap
  • Upgrades: The modular design of Code bar code readers allow for an easy transition from cabled use to Bluetooth or vice versa without the need to replace the entire device. Simply replace the handle and battery. Firmware can be uploaded from a standard PC
  • Batch: Code bar code readers are batch PDAs, too. Code readers have RAM, which make them ideal to handle any inventory or other data collection needs
Replaceable Battery Packs: Wireless bar code readers have replaceable battery packs for both hand-held and "candy bar” usage. The hand-held battery pack has an option for an industry-leading 3900 mA-hour battery option.

Disinfectant Ready Plastics: Code readers have housing built with Lexan. Lexan is a durable plastic that stands up to frequent cleaning from harsh cleaners. Additional features of Lexan include its broad design versatility, is flame retardant, scratch resistant, weatherable, biocompatible and meets stringent FDA requirements.

The following agents have been tested and approved for cleaning of Code bar code readers: Medical DiAirKem, Clorox disinfecting wipes, Isopropyl Alcohol, Sani-Cloth HB Germicidal Disposable Wipes, Super Sani-Cloth Germicidal Disposable Wipes, Sani-Cloth Plus Germicidal Disposable Wipes, Cavi Wipes Disinfecting Towelettes, Virex II 256 Disinfectant cleaner, Clorox Bleach solution (10% Clorox bleach, 90% tap water)

Programmable Buttons: Code readers have multiple buttons on the upper surface of the unit that can be programmed for various tasks, such as simulated keystrokes, triggering the unit and more, making the device more versatile than typical hand-held devices on the market today.

Power Requirements: Code bar code readers have significantly reduced power requirements, thus limiting the battery drain on mobile devices/carts and reducing overall costs when deployed throughout your operation.

Advanced Programming with JavaScript: JavaScript is recognized as the leading procedural language for cross-platform development. JavaScript is used to develop interaction with the user, control the logic of input processing, add encryption, display messages to the user, perform look-up and other validation functions, and control the interaction with a remote host either through cabled or radio frequency (Bluetooth) communications. Applications are developed without the overhead and porting problems inherent with Windows Pocket PC, Linux and CE.NET.

FIPS 140-2 Compliant: Code bar code readers have awarded the Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2 (FIPS 140-2) Level 2 certification.

FIPS 140-2 certification provides an enhanced level of security when collecting, storing and wirelessly transmitting data. Code's CR2500 and CR3500 bar code readers when paired with the CodeXML® Bluetooth® FIPS modem have proven to meet the strict federal government's security standard and are the first in the industry to receive the FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certification.
